This is your 6 month check-in
Ten weeks ago I hosted a women’s retreat called “Nourish”. The theme of the weekend was nourishing our selves mind, body and spirit. My friend (and all-around awesome human being) Dr. Holly Salem gave us a fascinating workshop on nutrition, teaching us how to get the most from our food to minimize inflammation and promote healthy energy, lifestyle and gut balance. She also graciously prepared incredible meals for us to enjoy during our stay. Leaving that weekend, every one of us was inspired with new info and tools to mindfully plan, easily shop and enthusiastically prepare our meals.
Now here we are ten weeks later, and I wonder how many of the women have continued to integrate these healthier new habits. For me, I was like a puppy waiting for the chance to run full-speed through the park when I got home from our workshop. I was armed with information, ideas, plans, and recipes. Admittedly, it was about a month later when I became distracted with other work and life stuff, including a big vacation where I knew I would be “throwing it all out the window anyway”. As if we didn’t already have enough proof from our social media consumption and “swipe and forget it” behavior, I was living proof that we have short attention spans these days and when we stop investing our energy in the thing we say is important to us, we lose momentum. We go back to easier, more familiar (and ok, lazy) ways of doing things.
So this letter is your six-month check-in. How are you doing on your 2024 plans? What has manifested for you? What is still on your vision board that hasn’t gotten the intentional energy or the true commitment it needs to show up? Or (ahem, you know who you are) - how many of you haven’t looked at lately or never even HAD a vision board for this year?
Since I returned from vacation I have been committed 100% to my better eating and consistent strength training workouts. As often happens, the vacation downtime was my opportunity to fully reset and recommit myself when I got home. There are a few habits that keep me on-track, which you can read about if you’re interested in the following blog post.
x,
